A Family Gathering and the Great Wiping Debate

A Family Gathering and the Great Wiping Debate

You know how some families gather around the dinner table and talk about politics or the latest gossip? Well, in my family, we somehow always end up talking about poop. Yes, you read that right. We are nothing if not open and, apparently, fascinated by the most natural of bodily functions.

At one of our last get-togethers, after the obligatory updates and laughs, someone (and I genuinely don't remember who) brought up the age-old question: How do you wipe? Now, you might think, "There’s only one way, right?" Oh, how wrong I was.

Apparently, some of us wipe while standing up, while others wipe sitting down. I know, I was shocked too! For my whole life, I thought the way I wiped was the way to wipe. Yet here was this new revelation that not everyone does it the same way. Mind. Blown.

Naturally, in true family fashion, we had to go around and ask each person. And wouldn’t you know it, it was about 50/50. Half of us were standers, and the other half were sitters. We had a good laugh, but I have to admit, this discovery kind of stuck with me. I mean, who knew? These are the kinds of things I think about when I'm lying in bed unable to fall asleep 😕 Forget counting sheep—I'm over here pondering the wiping habits of the world.

So, dear reader, did you know people wipe differently? And, if you don’t mind me asking—are you a stander or a sitter? Let me know in the comments; I promise I won’t judge!

Until next time,
The Not So Common Gal
